The group gardens have surpassed standards par excellence in the production of Tea, Coffee, Cardamom, Pepper, Turmeric, Arecanut, Cloves, and Anthuriums, achieving highest yields and prices.

With a workforce in excess of 11 000, spanning 23, 000 acres, producing 15 million kgs of made tea, 50 tonnes of cardamom, and 150,000 Anthurium flowers annually, the plantation sector is among the groups' core businesses, and fastest growing divisions. The focus of the group continues to be the achievement of the highest yield, quality, and price standards with an emphasis on expansion of tea and spices.

 Manufacturing Facilities
All the tea gardens have captive tea manufacturing facilities with state of the art equipment and cutting edge manufacturing technology which enable the production of the best quality tea. The present installed capacity is almost 150% of the tea grown and planned to accommodate the virgin new clearing areas that are coming to yield year on year. The production facilities and manpower training are continually improved to ensure quality output and retain the envied position of manufacturers of the best quality tea in each respective region.
 Marketing Network
At present we market all the teas produced at our units solely through licensed and certified auction centers. Being the best quality tea the demand for our product is bullish, exhibiting a consistent increase in market share. Stock retention at all units and warehouses at any point of time is no more than that which is either in transit or catalogued for Auction and pending sale (i.e. two weeks) with maximum value of unsold teas amounting to a maximum of Rs. 10 million in peak season. Our teas achieve a 100% sale rate auction on auction and year on year with no stockpile over and 0% receivables at any point of the sale chain. The standard industry return rate of non-saleable goods is 4%. The tea division of the Group boasts the highest return rate consecutively for the last five years.

Our group sale average is the highest in South India with our products invariably placing in the top five in all auctions in terms of price realization and quantity sold with 8% of total quantities catalogued at South India's largest Auction center in Cochin being ours. Our long-term policy to sell all our products through the auction mechanism has resulted in better price realization for our products.

A mature, experienced and dynamic team of professionals independently monitor the sales and quality levels. They are pro-active in auditing the marketing process and assist in the maintenance of quality standards in production at all phases of the production chain - another policy asset that ensures consistent results.

Our brand portfolio includes five primary dust brands with six grades/varieties for each brand including the premium Puthutotam and Sri Murugan marks. All five brands are well received in the market, with three being premium brands. The larger bulk buyers are familiar with the product and consistently patronize our brands heavily, using the products for direct retailing, domestic blends and export. Our target market at present are the bulk buyers across the southern states and Gujarat, with whom our brand has a very good name and receives continued patronage. This is attributable to the fact that the quality and standard of our teas are consistent.
